Time, and changing times, have resulted in old school off licenses like the one below becoming increasingly few and far between. The alcohol vending machines seen outside have gone the same way as well — especially so the sake ones. But obviously some shops still survive, and it’s all the better when they are as wonderfully retro looking as this one.

Lovely capture here Lee! If this were in black and white I wouldn’t know what era this was in. I don’t know if I’ve come across a one cup only vending machine in all my years here. Great find.
Lee says
Thanks a lot Coli. Yeah, it’s pretty timeless, isn’t it?
I’ve seen quite a few to be honest, although almost all of them have been out of order. But not this one!

A great scene I love the store sign. It might be old be it’s still got customers! 🙂
Lee says
Yeah, the sign is special. Never seen one quite like it. And area-wise it’s in a heavy drinking neighbourhood, so business is presumably brisk!

Two customers, a bike and the owner keeping watch from the back. A perfect photograph of a living store, unintimidated by the taller newer buildings it nestles amongst.

Cheers. It was good to be able to get a photo involving customers, rather than just the shop itself. And the owner silhouetted in the back was a very nice little bonus.
A lot of the older buildings in that area are disappearing, but hopefully this one at least will survive.
