Game show girlies

As far as video games go, the 2005 Tokyo Game Show was something of a let down. Microsoft to its credit had the Xbox 360 up and running, yet the playable games on offer hardly sent the pulse racing. Sony on the other hand managed to do nothing but frustrate, showing only videos of future PlayStation 3 software, the majority of which contained very little (if any) in-game footage.

Thankfully the ubiquitous booth babes saved the day, the scantily clad young ladies more than making up for the lack of quality games on offer.

Yet amazingly, this bevy of beauties was upstaged by the event’s massive cosplay contingent. A few of which drew huge crowds due to their looks and outlandish outfits. These three stunners in particular garnered a lot of well-deserved interest.

However despite the coy smiles and tasteful wigs, I think it was the shapely legs and green leotard of the group’s feminine leader that grabbed most people’s attention.

Leather lovers

In an event that ranks up there with ‘Best Jeanist’ in regards to a marketing ploy desperately trying to pass itself of as an award ceremony kind of situation, singer, model, and sometimes actress Anna Tsuchiya was named ‘Best Leathernist 2005’ on Tuesday.

To collect her prize, Tsuchiya-san wore a black leather jacket and a rather unpleasant looking pink dress.

Not the clearest of pictures it has to be said, so here’s another one. Although no leather I’m afraid.

Cane casing

There are now more iPod accessories than one can shake a stick at, but Japanese company Temas has (quite literally) taken this situation to heart, grasping the aforementioned stick and fashioning a case out of it.

Ok, it might be more of a pole than a stick, but regardless of semantics, this bamboo case for the iPod Shuffle is certainly a bit out of the ordinary. Nice to look at too.

There are more images of the ‘Take’ here, plus for nature lovers a rather nice picture of some bamboo. The cases it has to be said aren’t cheap at 6,000 yen (30 pound) each, but I suppose the chances of sitting next to somebody on the train who also has one are slim to say the least.

Yet as attractive as the bamboo box is, check out this lacquerware beauty for the iPod Mini.

Needless to say it’s even more expensive than the Take Shuffle, retailing at a hefty 9,800 yen (almost 50 pound). However with the Mini now officially dead due to the arrival of the nano, a discounted price tag could be just around the corner. Until then it can bought at the full price here.

Baseball bra

Despite several efforts — albeit of the half-hearted variety — baseball’s appeal totally escapes me. Especially when compared to football (soccer). That said, my favourite sport could learn a thing or two from the bat and ball game. Not as far as any sporting action is concerned mind you, but on the merchandising front. Namely the production of ladies undergarments.

Earlier this year, the Rakuten Eagles produced an attractive baseball related bra and panties combo, and not to be outdone, the Hanshin Tigers — in conjunction with Triumph International — have produced a similar set to commemorate the team’s 70th anniversary.

Not that anybody is interested, but in a vain attempt to justify the posting of such a picture, I should rather tediously add that the bra is embroidered with the Tiger’s logo, and with the skirt and a pair of shorts will go on sale for 21,000 yen (105 pounds).

Unforeseen scenery

The gentleman on the left is either using his hand to explain something, or alternatively as a barrier to shield his eyes from his companion’s rather unladylike posture.

I’ll let you decide which one.
