From the small island that I come from, Singapore, it is also the case. Perhaps even more true. Price here is likely to be cheaper though.

All the Mac Donalds i saw in Tokyo were really small, its not like in the Uk where they are massive and have seating for 100people odd. I was kinda weirded out be starbucks but then again its just coffee so its understanable its the same franchise.
