With the nights drawing in and winter well on its way, what could be better than retreating to this incredibly tiny, but at the same time wonderfully cosy, little Tokyo bar?
I can imagine. Just like everywhere else there are a lot of things to complain about here, but places like the one in the photo are quite the opposite.
Wow, cozy is the perfect description! But not sure I would be comfortable eating and drinking with so little space around me. Too claustrophobic for me.
We can also see a pretty girl in the middle of many old men. I wonder what is going through her mind at that moment or maybe what is her mission… (laughing)
I presume she was with the fella to her left. To be honest though, women of all ages in those kinds of places aren’t unusual. They really are as relaxed and friendly as they look.
Japan is so weird in the sense (as you’ve said before) how it’s so modern yet there are hundreds of these almost 3rd world really run down looking bars. A bit gritty as well, but everyone seems to love it. Shame I only really went to more sleek restaurants during my time in Japan, these kind of places didn’t catch my attention, in-fact I didn’t see them at all.

Excellent location, you really catch the soul of these places!

Thank you! That comment has made my day. My aim is always to try and capture each place’s unique atmosphere, so it’s wonderful to hear you say that.

Yeah, people are pretty packed in, but there’s always room to easily get in and out. Not quite as claustrophobic as it may look.

They are popular, although not with everybody. Older men in particular favour these places. But, like the photo proves, women are also visitors.
There are plenty of them about, you just have to keep your eyes open. Give one a try next time. Sure you’ll like it.
