Japanese bar ban

With its claim of being Asian as well as Japanese,

Japanese bar

and boasting a colourful and compelling entrance to boot,

Japanese bar

this bar looks like a decent spot to down a few drinks in.

Although while the door is just about ajar, for non-Japanese lacking the lingo, it is just about jammed shut.

@Gaijin: The Japanese text is just a boring old menu.
@Peter: From their website, it seems that you pay the keep charge if you want water and ice with your drinks. Bizarre.

A lot of bars offer a ‘bottle keep’ service. Rather than paying for individual shots, it offers the option of buying a whole bottle and then leaving it at the bar with your name on it to drink at a later date.

Bizarrely, even mayonnaise restaurants offer this service.

I can totally understand their logic here; I hate it when people assume they have a right to service when they can’t be bothered to even think about learning the local language. What struck me as odd though is that this “Asian Japanese Bar” only has two items on the menu that aren’t western…

Hey, I can say “whiskey” in Japanese. Does that mean I can enter the yellow door? Or is there a more difficult test inside? Maybe you have to show your JLPT ikkyu certificate.
