A fair number of Tokyo’s train stations now boast juicer stands, which sell freshly squeezed juice that, rather appropriately, can be happily supped while standing. These relatively recent additions offering the chance of some welcome relief after a particularly packed commute, or even some help with a horrible hangover.
However, for those frequenting stations that don’t have such stands, or are simply turned off by train travel, then help is luckily at hand, or even in one’s pocket, with this pint-sized portable version.
A beverage that is not only portable, but extremely palatable, although the bountiful number of coconut bits can initially be decidedly disconcerting.
Neil Duckett says
Man, i gotta keep a closer eye out for these drinks!
Honor says
Me too! This is a new one for me! Not sure about the sound of the coconut bits.

reminds me of a korean pineapple drink with little chunks of pineapple in it… pretty good, except for when the damn fruit gets stuck inside the soda can and you cant get it out
bushi says
What flavor is it?
John says
According to the katakana on the bottle in the photo, “howaito natadecoco”, presumably something to do with coconuts.
I had a pineapple one of these from the same brand my first weekend in Japan, but that was April 08 and I haven’t seen many of these since.
John says
Sorry to double post, but I saw this in a vending machine in Kamakura today and I had to give it a try. The back confirms in Romaji that it’s “white nata de coco” flavour. Although I’m still not quite sure what that means.
I think I was unlucky because there were maybe 5-10 small chunks of jellified coconut at the bottom…not quite meeting my high expectations…
