Japanese father and daughter affection

The bar may well have been a grubby one, and the bib more than a bit makeshift, but the affection between these two was there for all to see.

They were genuinely lovely to watch. A bit of a surprise in a place like that, but they somehow blended right in. And when dad popped out to the toilet, the owner took over. So clearly regulars.

Reminds me of northern China (DengBei) where the waitresses and staff will all look after your children while you eat in their restaurant. Very family focused – maybe it’s an Asian thing?

I haven’t seen it in Tokyo before, but that’s to be expected I guess. Could well be, especially so in more rural areas.

I do look at your photos everyday Lee, and I have for a long time. I don’t think I have ever commented before but I feel I have to this time. You take such beautiful, meaningful photos but the charm for me is often in YOUR comments. This one brought tears to my eyes. I probably won’t be so quiet in here anymore.

Thank you. Very kind of you. Lovely to hear.

They were such a great pairing that it was pretty much just a case of pressing the shutter.

I can certainly echo those comments, but it is amazing how my eye is drawn to the soy sauce, as it was to the cat in the previous image. In back and white though I might have missed the special ‘bibiclippy’ – never leave home without one, for that unexpected mameshiba moment.

Ah yes, the iconic bottle. The red really does stand out, doesn’t it? Agreed, that little extra wouldn’t have been anywhere near as noticeable in black and white. Particularly the clips.

    What was she drinking?

Sorry. Sometimes I can’t help myself.

    Great photo as usual.

      Thank you.

She just had a couple of beers. It was a school night after all.
