Little Tokyo bar books and a bare belly

Before beers were served and meat grilled, the late afternoon light allowed just enough time for a book and a baring of the midriff.

Thank you! Yeah, he was totally engrossed in his book, which was very nice to see.

It looks like there isn’t a lot of space for sitting inside! 🙂

The well thumbed little tome is intriguing. Maybe newspapers are too clumsy with the limited real estate.

Yeah, I would love to know what he was reading. Also, is it well thumbed by him, or a second hand purchase? And yeah, good call on the newspaper. The only way for that to work would be the implementation of some top level origami skills.

That is a wondrful scene you have captured there. The everyday life of a tiny backstreet bar owner. It’s as if you were invisible.
I see a pile of silimar books on the bar, perhaps for the patrons to peruse when conversation is quiet. The speckled edges makes me think they are manga books. I wonder what they are; “Golgo 13”, “One Piece”, “Deathnote”, “Astro Boy”?

Cheers. And yeah, he was way to involved in his book to be aware of me.

Manga would be a good bet, but can’t say for certain, as peeking over his shoulder would probably have been a bit much!

I was thinking of something more scholarly such as ‘In Praise of Shadows’ but Manga is indeed most likely, and a zoom lens would ruin the balance (both camera and bank account).
