Looking in and out of an old Tokyo bar

There are many good things about Tokyo, and the city’s old-style, independently owned little bars and eateries are up there with the best of them. Places where it’s possible to peer into the past, and yet at the same time, also the future.

Another photograph of this bar, taken on the same day but from a completely different angle, can be seen here.

Wonderful shot. Looks like a scene from Twilight Zone.

Thanks! It was an interesting moment — the two of us staring straight at one another.

Great shot, great framing and I now think that you have used a model in this shot as the person is really corporating to make the shot work! A delight!

      Thanks a lot!

He’s a wonderful subject, isn’t he? And like you say, he was very kind to cooperate. Although I’m not sure he considered it cooperating!

I very much like the windows and the blackness around them.

Cheers! Me too. I liked the different shapes, and how the darkness draws you into the bar scene.
