If a football player in England came out with such a confession, I dread to think what kind of heckling (at the very least) he would have to endure week in and week out.
For Kazuhito Tadano’s sake, I hope baseball’s minor league fans are a little less malicious.
Somehow I doubt it.

Is America ready for gay/bi baseball stars? Or have they already got some?
Lee says
He actually wanted to play in Japan, but no team was prepared to take him on. The excuse was he was injured. Yeah right!
Kev says
It’s frowned upon then?
Lee says
I think so. Although I’d say it’s more sort of ignored than frowned upon. Does that make sense?
I’ve found that one Japanese way of dealing with something potentially troublesome (or embarrassing) is by simply ignoring it. Or just pretending it doesn’t exist.

I got the impression of that when I heard about the homeless problem in Japan – they’re just kind of forgotten about, and looked through. It’s funny, really, if that’s their attitude to gay people, what with the popularity with women of manga/anime/movies about gay men (well, from what I’ve heard they like these kinds of things?!? My knowledge of Japan *is* filtered through the telly after all!).
Lee says
Yeah, I don’t get it. Especially when a lot of entertainers and TV celebrities are unquestionably gay.
But there are a lot of things I don’t understand here, and if I spent all my time trying to work them out I would have been institutionalized a long long time ago!

I have the video. Tadano is actually pretty hot. He could have two careers.
