Phenomenal fugu

Despite Tokyo being positively packed with places to eat, many restaurants are fairly subdued, with subtle signs stating what’s on offer. Like this soba restaurant for example, where the only thing ostentatious is the automobile outside.

However, with the economy still faltering, and the aforementioned competition ever more cut-throat, some restaurant owners resist such refrain and arguably make more of a meal than is necessary when mentioning what’s on the menu.

It always amazes me how little advertising there is on the outside of restaurants and other businesses here. Half the time you actually have to go IN to see what they do and 99% of the time I can’t be arsed looking and just walk by. Surely some common marketing sense would increase profits just a bit.

I would love to try fugu again. It has been years.

That Fubu is looking a little too happy – not sure I would trust those chefs (home made style fubu?)
