Recognition at last

Six years ago today I arrived in Japan, and it would seem that my contribution to the local community has at last been rewarded. As believe it or not, I’ve had a curry named after me. A beef one at that.

I can’t tell you how proud it makes me feel to walk down the dried food aisle and see this awe inspiring sight. And just like me, LEE curry is hot and spic somewhat shoddily packaged, and despite its claims, rather bland.

Lee! This is fabulous! Tell me if you see something that says Alex. My mom did once, but it turned out to be a turquoise high cut version of a Men’s Speedo. Not something I really want to be associated with.

Ted: Sorry, but that doesn’t make sense. I’m guessing it’s something complementary though!

Alex: Thanks. I’ll keep my eyes open for you. I thought a curry was a bit dull, but after what you said, I guess I should count myself lucky!

Congrats on 6 years! I made my first trip this spring and fell in love with Japan. I’ll be back soon!

Oh don’t complain about the blandness of your namesake curry. At least they didn’t print your package upside down like the package left of your curry.
