There are many wonderful things about wandering Tokyo with a camera, but the consistency with which the city conjures up surprises is definitely one of the highlights. Unexpected moments and meetings that can not only make a day, but all being well, make for some decent photos too.
These then are a few of those encounters, along with several far more ordinary scenes. All of them taken on two of my photowalk tours over the past week.

Lee says
@Denise That was definitely an unexpected sight!
@Richard Thanks a lot, and yeah, the tortoise was a joy to see.

That tortoise has to be the Kaminarimon one – surely there is only one that size and age?
They are all great photographs, especially the pairing of the first two, but the Tokyo Zombie one is my favourite. A couple of nights ago I was looking for a DVD in the T section of our large and increasing unnecessarily collection and was distracted by the Tokyo Zombie one. It has been a decade or so since I last watched it and Mrs cdilla still didn’t seem inclined to give it a go so I returned it and moved on. It did however refresh my memory of the cover and the movie posters of the time which either had the sole colour as pink or a large proportion pink. The only other colour is blue. So you perfectly colour matched the scene, as usual, but on this occasion I am inclined to think accidentally so – at least on the movie front.

Thanks a lot. And amazingly itβs not. This one is smaller. A youngster at about 5 years old.
Happy to hear I managed an extra and totally unknown colour match with the film cover too. Bonus content!

I noticed the reds and pink colour matches, the more subtle greys and browns in the next image, then my first groan with the tortoise shell rust brown in the following ‘pedestrian’ image, and then the maintenance section greys – postbox and hat! Oh my – amazing! what a sequence!

Thanks a lot. Really pleased how this set worked together, so very nice to hear. One of my favourites for quite some time.
