Tokyo lives from a stroll in the city’s eastern areas

The varied array of ageing structures that can still be found in Tokyo are endlessly fascinating, but more than those it’s the people in and around them that really make the city what it is. These then are just some of those citizens both seen and encountered on a recent, and enjoyably roaming, east Tokyo photowalk.

The start of a perfect day – to see that DVD store again:-)
Nice to see the music store owner resplendent in his trademark yellow top too.
Is one of those kitchens from that retro underground cafe in ueno?
    You spoil us again 🙂

Yes, always a perfect day when it includes a visit there.

That’s right. The 2nd and 3rd photos are from there. Nice to get a shot of the wonder this time.

Thanks a lot. I’ve been in that kissaten before, but the first time to get a photo of the owner. Very glad I could. A really nice fella.

Thank you always for your posts. Humanizing the individuals that so often get called “Japan” is god’s work.

You are very welcome, and thanks a lot. Can be tricky photographing people, so that’s really good to hear.
