This bar has featured on Tokyo Times before, albeit from a slightly different angle. But whichever way you choose to frame it, the sense of past and present is always a feature.

Very cool. My kinda place for sure. Trying to figure out if the young guy in the hat is happy with you or not! 😉
Motsunabe. Offal or guts stew I guess in English. Not my thing to be honest (liver or heart on a stick is about my limit), but it’s a very popular dish. Interested in giving it a try?

Happy to say he was fine with it. Or certainly not unhappy. Definitely more grin than grimace!

Great pic. Super cosy!
Lee says
Thanks! Yeah, cosy is a good description for this and many other places. And the limited space does make for a good atmosphere.

Wow… Now I am curious about what is being cooked in that big pot. Any idea?

I had it, tastes pretty good, I didn’t wonder too much about where it came from and actually loved it.
Lee says
For me it’s not the taste. Which to be honest I quite like. But rather the texture. All a little bit too chewy…
AF says
Yeah, well, hmmmm… I guess it would be good if I could check the smell first before eating. (noses are good friends when it comes to food).
Lee says
They are. The smell is good. In fact the taste is too. It’s simply the texture that I have a problem with.

Heaps of atmosphere! Really too bad I only visit Japan every 2 years to see the in-laws, I wanna go now! 🙂

Such places really are tough to beat, aren’t they? But hang in there. You’ll be back before you know it!
