Tokyo’s dirtiest, most dilapidated kitchen?

At one time this kitchen was part of a shop — hence its open to the street setup. An old-style deli along these lines being one possibility. But that was clearly an awfully long time ago, and now it is simply used as a regular cooking space. But while regular may perfectly describe its usage, it in no way describes its appearance.

Figures I’d see this post while I’m cooking dinner! That’s even more amazing than the alien lamp.

      Perfect timing!

I’d still have to go with the lamp, as that place is open to the public. But it’s a very close call.

If it isn’t, I wouldn’t want to see what is! 😮

It’ll take some beating, won’t it? I suspect the further you venture in, the filthier it gets too…

Nah, it’s not open for business anymore, which is perhaps as well. Or at least I’m pretty sure it’s not open for business. But in Japan you can never be sure, can you?

Whoa, that is sad, I can’t see the floor (there is a thick layer of something on it).
    .
I wonder if there is more to this person story. Some occasions that this happens in Japan are when the owner is alone (maybe sick) and when the person is not young living in a big place. Some retired guys might even develop a tendency to store and keep lots of , ancient, old stuff around that should be thrown away specially when they also have eye/visual problems. If they can’t see properly they won’t see the dirt and disorder on walls and sometimes stop caring. To top it off oftenly there are other challenges involved that attack old folks such as depression, no money, articulation disease (bones, muscles, joints), heart failure, distant/non-existent family, etc…

There must be a story, but what it is we can only speculate on. Although that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The only facts I have are that it was once a shop, but it clearly hasn’t been open for business in years. And presumably like many such places in Tokyo, it doubles as a home. Hence the lady still using the kitchen.

I see your point. Image as art is focused on imagination. Story can be incidental hehehe… Thank you very much for telling a little more about it.

Looking at this closer there is a little green bottle of cleaner on the floor. I wonder if she is actually going to use it and where at.

Yes, I noticed that. But is it in regular use, or like so many other things in the place, has it simply been sat there for years? I suspect it may be the latter!

Yeah, that left me curious too, also her clothes and cover on her head could look like someone that decided to do some house work, then I thouhgt to myself that she could be working on another room that has more priority than this area. Indeed this is a very peculiar picture.

Yes, that was a bit of a surprise. But at least her hands will be clean if little else.
