Well, worst is arguably going a bit too far, as despite the relative squalor, passed out drunk and less than fresh smell, it’s still probably better than taking the little fella to McDonald’s.

Attractive photo of an unattractive location. You’re right on about it being a lot better than poisoning children with McDonald’s.
Cheers. I personally find such places have a certain beauty, or at least charm, so glad to hear some of that comes through. And yes, definitely the better option food wise.
Only when looking a bit longer at the photo that I noticed the salariman sleeping on the empty crates; this really add to the out-of-this-world look of this shot: The shoddy location, the picnic, the drunk sleeping it off, all make sense individually, but put together? Only in Japan!
Quite the scene, isn’t it? I too didn’t notice the sleeping drunk at first, but when I did it made my day. Knew I definitely had an interesting shot then.
Maybe a bit more specific than that. More like only in Shinjuku!

Beautiful shot! What part of the city wa this in? Do you ever plan on making a photo book of any sort? Would be great!

Thank you! It was in Shinjuku. Kabukicho to be exact. A fascinating place to explore at all times of the day and night.
Good of you to say so. Haven’t really thought about it. At least not seriously. But it would be lovely to produce one someday.

Love how you captured the little guy focused on his lunch and the Dad? focused on his phone.
Lee says
Thanks. Yeah, they were both completely unaware of my presence. Just like the man behind them!
