Cool clothing

The jacket pictured below is decidedly uncool in a fashion sense, but when it comes to the hot and humid Japanese summer, it’s the coolest clothing out there.

air-conditioned-jacket.jpg

The clever people at PC2B have equipped the jacket with 2 fans that send a current of air through the garment, helping to reduce body temperature. By wearing it you may appear to possess the physique of a sumo wrestler, but at least it will stop you sweating like the proverbial pig.

Here’s hoping that air-conditioned underwear is next on PC2B’s list.

Following suit

Having seen his England teammate David Beckham make a fortune in Japan advertising everything from chocolate to sunglasses, Liverpool striker Michael Owen has decided to get in on the money making action.

But whereas everything Beckham does is considered cool, Owen might not find things quite so easy. As for reasons unknown (although most likely financial), he has opted to lend his name to the Aoyama brand. A company well known for providing cheap and not especially fashionable suits.

Is that embarrassed smile due to feelings of guilt associated with the huge amount of money he is being paid, or because of the knowledge that this picture of him in an ill-fitting and cheap suit is going to be seen all over Japan?

I’m going with the latter.

Braying bra*

The picture below shows Shinobu Ikehata showing off an item from Triumph International’s new fall and winter collection. The bra Ms. Ikehata is sporting depicts the racehorse Haruurara, famous for its record breaking run of races without a win.

braying_bra.jpg

Triumph International claim to be using the image of Haruurara because the animal is a symbol of determination. Now call me cynical, but alternatively it might just have something to do with the fact that the horse is now something of a celebrity, and anything Haruurara related sells by the bucket load.

Although the company’s actions are perhaps no less cynical than mine. Padding out this worthless story just to merit the picture of a pretty young woman wearing a bra.

*I should say that I am aware that horses don’t bray, but I couldn’t think of another word to go with bra. And in horse racing circles, I’m sure the poor performances of Haruurara would lumber the horse with the derogatory moniker of donkey. Probably.
