Tokyo, it has to be said, isn’t exactly blessed with an abundance of breathing space, and as far as cars are concerned, parking is at a premium in regards to both payment and position.
Yet whereas costs are difficult to cut, it is possible to cram a load of cars in a relatively confined space — a bit of ingenuity is required that’s all.
And, it goes without saying, a huge amount of patience, particularly for those parked at the top; many of whom probably forego a certain amount of sleep in order to set off on time in the morning.
A contraption that in many ways is not all that dissimilar to the still popular pastime of sliding tile puzzles.
