Dangerously designed dwelling?

With land in the Japanese capital both lacking and ludicrously priced, architects often have to conjure up designs to deal with such difficulties. Issues that on the whole do appear to get dealt with, just with decidedly varying degrees of success that’s all.

As, while living in a space that is confined or unconventional isn’t necessarily too uncomfortable, dealing with a front door that calls for climbing skills might be considerably less accommodating.

A problem probably only added to by the presumably perpetual whinging of postal workers.

Tokyo zoo zeal

Just like the many arguments for and against zoos, Japan’s collection of enclosures covers the whole gamut, from the good to the ghastly.

However, regardless of each menagerie’s merits, safety measures have to made in case a beast breaks through its barriers. So, if this rhino suddenly gets angry about not being able to roam around in a realistic setting,

it’s nice to know that well practiced precautions are in place.

But that said, while not wanting to be too critical about the video below, the facsimile in the footage is not exactly fast.

Or indeed fearsome.

Japanese kiddie cosplay

When it comes to Japan’s colossal number of cosplay converts, there would appear to be a few different techniques for complementing the customary costume.

For starters, an amazingly moulded mane is more often than not a mainstay.

But that said, for a minority at least, minimalism is mindbogglingly the mantra.

Although to be fair, the young fella featured deserves at least some credit for making his previous creation now seem measured — mainstream even.

Tokyo fish tank philanthropy?

For the Tokyoite with a hobby that is hampered by the size of his or her home, there would appear to be a passable solution — simply practice it on the pavement outside the apartment.

A procedure that not only pleases the person whose place it is, but also pedestrians who periodically pass by.

Along with those in search of a soothing sit down.

And yet while particularly packed fish tanks placed in public aren’t exactly what one would term as typical, what’s arguably much more amazing is that after an obliviously long time left totally unattended, they haven’t even been touched,

let alone trashed.

Cut-price cosmetic surgery?

With the ongoing economic onslaught affecting the sales of cars and consumer goods, it’s probably fair to say that the equally pricey practice of plastic surgery is also being put on the back burner by many people, although thankfully, at least as far as the latter is concerned, there are some recession-busting replacements.

Meaning those after a cute mouth that curls up at the corners don’t need to concern themselves with cuts and huge costs, as a cheap and cheerful roller is all that’s required.

And even a nose job isn’t a, ahem, bridge too far, with patience and looking a little peculiar the only thing people will have to put up with.

Plus, as previously posted, that banner ad for such business, the boob job, can also be recreated.

Albeit more rigourously.

And with rollers.
