Kamen chameleon

The vast and varied number of vending machines in Japan are certainly convenient, although they can cause a considerable amount of clutter, meaning most come complete with a rather characterless little container to collect all the cans.

Like this tired-looking trio for example.

But every now and again there is the odd nod to the unique, with this colossal Kamen Rider cleverly collecting cans in his calf.

How they are fished out, on the other hand, is almost as unfathomable as the freedom fighter’s phenomenal fame.

Tokyo wildlife whereabouts

With its more than plentiful supply of people and apartments, Tokyo isn’t exactly awash with wildlife. Well, apart from the city’s vast number of vermin that is.

However, to be fair, the Japanese capital does make concessions to other, less contaminated critters; they just have to be comfortable around concrete that’s all.

Japanese air idol option

For the man in Japan after a partner with a particularly plastic appearance, there are plenty to pick from, with state of the art silicone sirens the most sought after. Items that are apparently ideal for all different kinds of dalliances and, with the added addition of an idol mask, can conveniently double up as famous friends.

The trouble is, due to their almost preposterous price tags, they are simply beyond the means of many men — a rented rendezvous being the most the majority can ever hope to manage.

However, there are cheaper alternatives, with air idols in particular cleverly combining the female form and a famous face, all at a fraction of the cost.

And, with a range of idols to choose from, a favourite is easy to find.

This Mikie Hara model for example costs a measly 4,980 yen, yet its likeness to the young model is amazing — mesmerising even.

In fact, given the right conditions, it can be difficult to tell them apart, even when they are together. The real Mikie being the one in the bikini. I think.

Japanese language lapse or Lee’s laziness?

Which is the lazier is difficult to discern, a picture pedantically poking fun at a misspelt sign by a non-native speaker,

or the latter for not quickly dipping into a dictionary before deciding on the design?

Feisty Japanese fashion

With spring now in full swing and the temperature in Tokyo hitting an almost summery 17 degrees on Sunday, winter fashion is feverishly being phased out to make way for considerably less cumbersome clothing.

A shift that, for those with a desire for the somewhat indecorous, can seemingly result in one or two women bravely walking about,

in barely more than their birthday suits.
