Coming of Age Day colours

As Japan’s population rapidly ages, traditional Coming of Age Day practices aren’t nearly so noticeable, with the number of those making their move into adulthood this year registering another record low — this time a meagre 1.33 million, which is a paltry 1.04 percent of the population.

However, while the streets yesterday weren’t exactly teeming with former teens in traditional attire, there were still a few bright spots among the vast swathes of silver seniors. The furisode favoured by females in particular offering a considerable amount of colour to the commonplace,

concrete,

and campus.

Plus even an excursion to meet family and friends or attend a function added a certain amount of charm to the station.

And indeed the street.

Japanese holiday happiness

With national holidays offering a relatively rare chance for many Japanese workers to kick back and contemplate three consecutive days off, what better way to spend (at least) one of them than by wrapping up and relaxing with a long lunch,

loads of like-minded people,

and lots and lots of lovely lager?

Japanese biking behemoth

Hardy little Hondas are all well and good for work, allowing the rider to rapidly weave through the winding streets with his wares.

When it comes to the weekend, however, something bigger and far more bold is best, like this far from modest machine for example.

But, it would seem, such big bikes require equally big personalities.

Along with similarly big bellies.

Tranquil time out #39

For all the negative qualities of continuing to coat the country in absolutely colossal amounts concrete, on a cold and crisp winter’s day, its heat retaining attributes at least make the riverbank the perfect place to briefly park one’s behind.

Although as this unrelenting approach has rendered the views less than resplendent, reading material is recommended — required even.

Big Japanese breasts (pillow)

For the person not after somebody special but simply unsentimental sex, then silicone substitutes are now surprisingly common, and available both for keeps or just a couple of hours; however, for those merely interested in mammaries — regardless of whether the focus is a relaxing fondle or a feature to rejoicingly rub their faces into — then the oppai pillow would appear to be perfect.

Apparently.
